Bensafrim is a perfect little location for beginners or someone wanting to refresh their climbing skills. The routes are around 12-15 meters high and of low difficulty, with the add-on of providing gorgeous views and exposure.

Rocha da Pena has climbs for all levels and is located near the charming interior city of Loulé. Its red limestone has amazing friction and the routes tend to be around 20-25 meters high. It’s the most established climbing site in the region with the biggest concentration of routes for all levels.

On the other hand, the ocean cliffs near Sagres reach up to 30 meters and the access can be quite adventurous. It’s not uncommon to have to abseil down to the ocean to access the gorgeous limestone routes. This area is not for the faint of heart for sure, and it’s good to have a solid head over your shoulders.

Two things are for sure, there is plenty of good rock to go around and the scenery is breathtaking in all locations!
